The BMS lab has a mobile lab at its disposal for research on location and events.
It is based on a lengthened and heightened Mercedes Benz Sprinter van and includes workstations, a presentation screen, airconditioning, heating, camera systems, sound equipment and electrical outlets.
Moreover, it has the ability to use VR, carry very capable PCs, acquire and process data and setup a WiFi network.
Thanks to a set of batteries and a charger cable, the lab can run both on power from the grid or up to 5 hours of its internal batteries.
The lab is available for use for anyone meeting the project requirements and that has had the required driver's license for at least 5 years.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

You can reserve the mobile lab using the regular procedure. There are however certain extra conditions for is use.

Extra conditions:

• The driver has had Dutch driver's license B (or international equivalent) for at least 5 years and is an employee of the University of Twente. Students, please contact the lab beforehand.
• Private use is not allowed. Use of the lab in the weekends is only allowed after having provided a motivation.
• CAUTION: The van is high, very high. Its height is about 3m and you need overpasses with a minimum clearance of 3,5m. The use of any type of roofed parking lot is therefore out of the question.
• Charge the mobile lab fully upon returning it and ensure that it is fully recharged upon its next use. This includes any auxiliary systems.
• Return the mobile lab fully cleaned. This means that the floors are vacuum cleaned and the back of the van is mopped clean if needed. If the outside is dirty, you should take it through the carwash, but do mind the height.
• You can only use the built-in equipment for kilometer registration and you should register it on your own OFI number.
• For getting gas (Diesel!) you should use the "tankpas" that is delivered with the lab.
• The mobile lab should be reserved using the regular procedure. This means that in the case of the lab being used for research, that ethical approval is required.
• Party responsible during the loan period is also responsible for the mobile lab's safe and secure storage. In the case of internal events, the BMS lab will arrange this in most cases.
• Plan and carefully study your trip beforehand. The van does not handle like a small car and that means you can get into serious trouble in tight corners or small city centers.
• An employee of the lab will brief the lender before they can take the van and will inspect it upon return. The lender will then receive a checklist and information folder on the van and its use.
• Remove the data you generated while using the van. PCs on the van are wiped quarterly.
• If these conditions proof to be insufficient, then the lab manager has the final say.
